Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This opportunity offers the chance to work on mission-critical wireless and public-safety communications systems that help keep commercial facilities, healthcare environments, and high-occupancy buildings operational and compliant. You'll travel extensively across the United States, supporting a wide variety of complex RF deployments and infrastructure environments. The role provides hands-on exposure to advanced testing technologies, real-world troubleshooting, and highly specialized communications systems. It is an excellent opportunity for experienced RF professionals seeking autonomy, technical variety, and meaningful impact.

Overview
We are seeking an Annual RF Technician to perform recurring inspections, testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective action on existing Public Safety DAS, Cellular DAS, BDA, ERRCS, and ERCES systems throughout the United States.

This is a highly travel-based field role supporting operational systems in commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, data centers, high-rise properties, and other mission-critical environments.

The successful candidate will verify system performance, identify root causes of deficiencies, perform authorized corrective actions when practical, retest affected systems, and document findings requiring additional engineering review or remediation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform annual inspections and performance testing on Public Safety DAS, Cellular DAS, BDA, ERRCS, and ERCES systems.
  • Conduct RF signal-strength testing, grid testing, coverage validation, alarm testing, and system health assessments.
  • Inspect head-end equipment, donor antennas, service antennas, amplifiers, fiber systems, coaxial cabling, splitters, couplers, batteries, power supplies, grounding systems, and monitoring equipment.
  • Test system alarms, supervisory signals, battery backup systems, and related life-safety functions.
  • Troubleshoot coverage deficiencies, interference issues, degraded signal levels, equipment alarms, power failures, battery issues, fiber faults, coax faults, and component failures.
  • Diagnose system deficiencies using RF test data, system drawings, equipment documentation, and field inspections.
  • Perform authorized corrective actions including equipment adjustments, component replacements, equipment resets, cable repairs, connector repairs, alarm correction, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Retest system components and coverage areas to verify corrective actions restored required system performance.
  • Escalate issues requiring engineering review, major equipment replacement, redesign, carrier involvement, additional authorization, or construction activities.
  • Utilize Anritsu, PCTel, spectrum analyzers, cable analyzers, signal generators, and related RF test equipment.
  • Conduct cable and antenna testing, including VSWR, return loss, cable loss, and distance-to-fault measurements.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, deficiency reports, corrective-action documentation, and closeout reports.
  • Document testing results, photographs, root-cause findings, completed work, remaining risks, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate professionally with facility personnel, authorities having jurisdiction, public-safety stakeholders, customers, and internal project teams.
  • Follow all site-specific safety, security, operational, and testing procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Two or more years of hands-on experience with Public Safety DAS, Cellular DAS, BDA, ERRCS, ERCES, LMR, or in-building wireless systems.
  • Experience performing RF inspections, commissioning, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair activities.
  • Working knowledge of public-safety radio systems operating in VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, and 800 MHz frequency bands.
  • Hands-on experience using Anritsu, PCTel, or comparable RF testing equipment.
  • Ability to interpret RF test results, floor plans, riser diagrams, system drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to diagnose system deficiencies and determine appropriate corrective or escalation paths.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, customer-service, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with limited supervision.
  • Ability to travel domestically approximately 100%, including frequent overnight travel.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to work in active facilities, climb stairs and ladders, carry testing equipment, and work within telecommunications and equipment rooms.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing annual public-safety radio coverage inspections.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, IFC, AHJ, and local fire-code requirements.
  • Experience working with fire marshals, inspectors, or public-safety agencies.
  • Experience commissioning, optimizing, acceptance testing, and maintaining Cellular DAS and Public Safety DAS systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • iBwave, Anritsu, PCTel, BICSI, NICET, FCC GROL, or other related technical certifications.

Work Environment / Additional Information

  • Remote, field-based position.
  • Approximately 100% domestic travel.
