Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support low-voltage and structured cabling installations for large-scale data centre projects. Based out of the Chantilly, VA office, this role serves as the on-site lead reporting to a Project Manager and is accountable for execution, production, sequencing, safety, quality, and crew performance. The Construction Manager plays a tactical role within the project team, ensuring work is completed on time, on budget, and in compliance with contract requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Field Execution & Operations
- Manage day-to-day production, sequencing, and priorities across active job sites
- Define and assign daily work plans for field crews
- Translate drawings, prints, and pathways into actionable work plans, tracking tools, and cut sheets
- Conduct site surveys and support estimating and bid review efforts
- Coordinate material inventory, staging, and deliveries
Project Oversight
- Ensure all work aligns with contract scope, schedule, and quality requirements
- Identify and communicate risks, scope changes, and cost or schedule impacts
- Support Project Managers with change order tracking and documentation
- Oversee multiple buildings or rooms concurrently with varying complexity
Quality & Safety
- Own QA/QC processes including labelling, testing, and validation
- Maintain site safety, health, and compliance standards
- Perform field quality control inspections
- Assemble closeout documentation and manage punch list completion
Stakeholder Management
- Interface with general contractors, customers, and subcontractors
- Manage challenging or ambiguous customer requests and clarify scope
- Balance technical constraints with client expectations
Team Leadership
- Directly manage field crews (typically 5–15 technicians per site)
- Mentor junior technicians and foremen through hands-on leadership
- Spend initial weeks in the field working alongside crews to learn workflows
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction experience
- Minimum 5 years of low-voltage / structured cabling installation experience
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Layer 1 cabling, including fibre terminations, testing, and large strand-count installs
- Experience managing field crews directly
- Thorough understanding of EIA/TIA standards and structured cabling systems
- Strong production management, sequencing, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage pressure, ambiguity, and demanding client environments
- Solid computer skills (Excel, Outlook)
- Physical ability to perform job duties (climbing, lifting, bending, standing)
- Ability to travel locally within the Northern Virginia / DC metro area

Preferred Qualifications
- Data centre construction experience
- BICSI and/or RCDD certification
- OEM certifications (CommScope, Panduit, Hilti, Tyco, etc.)
- Microsoft Project experience
- Construction Management or Project Management coursework
Work Environment / Additional Information
- Field-based role (~70% field / 30% admin)
- Approximately 50 hours per week
- Local travel only (NOVA / DC / Richmond corridor)
Compensation & Benefits
- $80,000 – $95,000 annually (flexible up to $110,000 for exceptional experience)
