Overview
Our customer, a leading infrastructure and utility services provider, is seeking a CAD Drafter to support telecom construction and network installation projects. This role focuses on developing accurate underground and aerial Outside Plant (OSP) designs using AutoCAD while collaborating with engineering and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop base maps and detailed OSP designs using AutoCAD for underground and aerial telecom infrastructure
- Design fiber optic routing, including conduit, innerduct, microduct, and cable placement
- Perform make-ready engineering and pole line design adjustments
- Research existing utilities (water, sewer, electric, gas) and integrate data into design plans
- Support public right-of-way, easements, and permitting requirements across jurisdictions
- Coordinate with municipalities, engineers, and field teams to gather records and validate design inputs
- Translate field notes and site survey data into accurate engineering drawings
- Update and maintain construction drawings and documentation
- Ensure design accuracy and production targets are met in a high-volume environment
- All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of professional AutoCAD 2D experience
- Working knowledge of OSP design concepts or utility construction drawings
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans
- Strong attention to detail and production-oriented mindset
- Self-motivated with effective time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Excel
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with telecom or fiber optic network design
- Familiarity with permitting processes (city, county, state, or federal)
- Knowledge of AutoCAD commands such as breakline, fillet radius, layer management, and scaling
- Experience working with easements, right-of-way, and environmental constraints
Work Environment / Additional Information
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment supporting construction operations
- Initial training may require travel to a designated training location
- Position may involve coordination with field teams and site survey activities
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Pay Range: $23 – $28 (based on experience)
