Overview
Our customer is seeking a Designer to support utility and telecommunications design projects by working closely with engineering, permitting, right-of-way, and survey teams. This position is responsible for creating and updating design drawings, preparing graphics and plans, supporting project documentation, maintaining quality standards, and assisting with design deliverables.

The successful candidate will possess strong AutoCAD skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn utility and telecommunications design principles in a collaborative team environment.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineering, right-of-way, land survey, and permitting teams to support project deliverables.
  • Prepare and update design drawings and technical graphics.
  • Complete design markups and revisions accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with report graphics preparation and presentation materials.
  • Set up and prepare design plans and project documentation.
  • Support permit drawing preparation and submittal activities.
  • Maintain established QA/QC standards and design requirements.
  • Assist with utility and telecommunications design projects.
  • Communicate project specifications and design requirements with internal teams.
  • Organize and maintain project files and supporting documentation.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and related software to support design activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the design process.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of recent AutoCAD experience through employment, education, certification, or related training.
  • Ability to interpret project information and develop accurate design layouts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and standard office software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with design and engineering teams.
  • Willingness to learn utility design and telecommunications infrastructure concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, technical degree, or formal training in CAD, drafting, design technology, engineering technology, or a related field.
  • AutoCAD certification.
  • Experience preparing permit drawings.
  • Exposure to utility, telecommunications, electrical distribution, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
  • Basic understanding of ArcGIS.
  • Experience supporting QA/QC processes.
  • Telecommunications or utility design experience.
