Overview
Our customer, a leading infrastructure services provider, is seeking experienced Fiber Optic Technicians / Fiber Splicers to support a major campus-based fiber deployment in the Mobile, Alabama area.
This role involves fiber installation, fusion splicing, termination, and testing across a large industrial facility. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, field-based environment and commuting daily to Bay Minette, AL.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fusion splicing of fiber optic cables, including pigtail splicing
- Terminate fiber in LIU panels and fiber distribution cabinets
- Conduct OTDR testing and power meter testing
- Install fiber trays, termination panels, and equipment racks
- Assemble and install fiber distribution and termination cabinets
- Document test results and maintain daily progress reports
- Read and interpret construction drawings and network schematics
- Follow all site safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Collaborate with team members to ensure quality and timely project completion
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of fiber optic experience, including fusion splicing
- Hands-on experience with pigtail splicing and fiber termination
- Experience performing OTDR testing and interpreting results
- Experience working with 144-count fiber cable or higher
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and documentation
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CFOT – Certified Fiber Optic Technician
- CFOS/S – Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (Splicing)
- BICSI Technician Certification
- OSHA 10 Certification
