Overview
The Professional Licensed Surveyor is responsible for performing vertical and horizontal control surveys, boundary surveys, and all required calculations and computations. This role includes managing survey projects, directing survey crews and technicians, and ensuring accuracy across all survey deliverables. The position serves as a key liaison between survey and design teams and supports complex fieldwork as needed. The Surveyor must hold an active Professional Land Surveyor licence in the State of Virginia.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform vertical and horizontal control surveys, boundary surveys, and associated calculations and computations
  • Complete ties to subdivisions, property lines, and government land corners
  • Manage survey projects from planning through execution
  • Direct and manage survey crews and technicians to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Review and verify survey data, calculations, and deliverables
  • Assist with complex fieldwork as required
  • Coordinate and schedule survey crews and technicians
  • Act as the primary liaison between survey and design teams
  • Ensure compliance with applicable surveying standards and practices
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Active registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Virginia
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a two-year technical degree and/or a minimum of seven (7) years of experience working as or with a Licensed Surveyor
  • Strong knowledge of survey methods, procedures, and techniques
  • Experience operating optical, electronic, magnetic, and mechanical measuring devices
  • General computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and Windows operating systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in utility and/or general construction environments
  • Experience using AutoCAD
