The O Calc Technician supports aerial fiber engineering projects through pole measurement verification, data entry, and structural modeling. This role combines structured field verification work with office based pole loading input and analysis support.
Field Responsibilities
- Perform field verification of selected poles to confirm measurement accuracy
- Use calibrated fiberglass measurement rods to capture pole height and attachment elevations
- Capture pole images and measurement data using company provided mobile devices
- Verify existing attachment heights and clearance conditions
- Travel to project segments typically ranging from 30 to 40 miles
Office and Technical Responsibilities
- Input field collected data into O Calc, SPIDAcalc, or similar pole loading software
- Build and calibrate pole loading models based on field measurements
- Confirm pole class, height, span length, and loading assumptions
- Identify discrepancies between GIS data and field conditions
- Prepare completed pole loading packages for senior review
- Maintain organized digital records and documentation
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Two to three years telecom or utility experience preferred for higher pay tier
- Experience with O Calc or SPIDAcalc preferred
- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
