Overview
Our customer is seeking an experienced OSP Designer III to support the design and engineering of fiber optic infrastructure projects. This senior-level position is responsible for independently completing complex aerial and underground fiber designs while ensuring compliance with customer standards, permitting requirements, and construction best practices.
The ideal candidate has extensive OSP design experience and can support projects from route development through construction-ready design packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Design aerial and underground fiber optic networks.
- Develop construction-ready OSP design packages.
- Perform route analysis and network planning.
- Complete field assessments and site validations as required.
- Prepare permit drawings and right-of-way packages.
- Coordinate with utilities, municipalities, permitting agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Review construction requirements and ensure design constructability.
- Create as-built updates and project documentation.
- Maintain QA/QC standards throughout the design process.
- Support and mentor junior designers.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of OSP design experience.
- Strong knowledge of aerial and underground fiber design methodologies.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Experience creating construction drawings and permit packages.
- Understanding of fiber network architecture and OSP construction practices.
- Experience with utility coordination, easements, and right-of-way design.
- Ability to independently complete complex OSP designs.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting FTTH, FTTX, broadband, backbone, or middle-mile fiber projects.
- GIS, ArcGIS, or ESRI experience.
- Civil 3D experience.
- Telecommunications, utility, or engineering consulting background.
- Previous lead designer or mentoring experience.
