Overview
The Right of Way Agent is responsible for managing land and property-related activities that support infrastructure projects. This role focuses on securing property rights, negotiating agreements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements while maintaining positive relationships with landowners and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify property ownership through public records and title research
  • Analyze titles, identify defects, and recommend corrective actions
  • Negotiate acquisition of right of way, easements, and other property rights
  • Manage property damage claims and settlement negotiations
  • Prepare cost estimates related to land and right of way acquisition
  • Secure permits required for construction and maintenance activities
  • Review and interpret agreements including deeds, leases, and licenses
  • Act as liaison between internal teams, landowners, municipalities, and stakeholders
  • Resolve encroachments, complaints, and landowner inquiries efficiently
  • Conduct both field visits and office-based documentation (approximately 50/50 split)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant right of way experience
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret legal and property documents
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-facing skills
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in right of way, land acquisition, or related field
  • Negotiation experience in property or landowner agreements
  • Familiarity with permitting and utility or infrastructure projects

Work Environment / Travel / Schedule

  • Onsite role with a mix of office and field work (approximately 50/50)
  • Local travel within the market to meet with landowners and visit project sites
  • Occasional extended hours or weekend work based on project demands
  • Fast-paced, dynamic work environment

Compensation

  • $25/hour + DOE
  • Benefits may include medical, dental, vision coverage, supplemental insurance, and 401(k)
