Overview
We are seeking a Right of Way Agent to support land acquisition and customer engagement efforts for infrastructure projects. This role combines real estate, negotiation, and customer-facing responsibilities, requiring direct interaction with homeowners to explain project details, address concerns, and secure necessary property agreements.

The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to build trust and guide property owners through the right of way process. This position plays a key role in ensuring projects move forward efficiently while maintaining positive relationships with the community..


Key Responsibilities

  • Meet directly with homeowners to explain project scope, benefits, and timelines related to underground or infrastructure programs
  • Build trust with property owners and guide them through agreements required for work on their property
  • Negotiate acquisition of right of way, easements, permits, and other land rights
  • Identify property ownership through public records and research land titles
  • Analyze titles, identify defects, and outline necessary curative actions
  • Prepare cost estimates related to right of way acquisition and land-related activities
  • Secure civil permits required for construction and maintenance of facilities
  • Review, prepare, and interpret agreements such as deeds, easements, leases, permits, and licenses
  • Serve as liaison between internal teams, customers, municipalities, developers, and other stakeholders
  • Resolve encroachments, damage claims, and landowner concerns in a cost-effective manner
  • Negotiate settlements for property damage and loss claims
  • Support project execution while minimizing risk, delays, and potential legal issues

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent right of way industry experience
  • Experience in right of way, land acquisition, real estate, or related field
  • Strong customer service and in-person communication skills, with ability to engage homeowners directly
  • Proven ability to build relationships and establish trust with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of right of way processes including acquisition, title research, permitting, and negotiations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant software tools
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with negotiation in real estate or right of way environments
  • Background in community outreach or public relations
  • Familiarity with project management, budgeting, and cost forecasting

Work Environment / Additional Information

  • Frequent in-person interaction with homeowners in residential settings
  • Approximately 30–40% travel within the local market
  • Overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required based on project demands
  • Fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Role requires flexibility and the ability to manage shifting priorities

Compensation

  • Pay Rate: $25/hour + DOE
  • Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision Coverage, Supplemental Insurance through Aflac, and 401(k) plan
