Overview
The RF Integration Technician is responsible for commissioning and optimization of our DAS systems. This position provides project oversight and interfaces with the Wireless Service Providers’ (WSPs) RF team as well as the project and implementation teams. The RF Integration Engineer is responsible for documenting optimization and commissioning procedures, measurements, settings, and final network configurations. This position is responsible for ensuring that Acceptance Test Plan procedures are completed, approved, and filed in coordination with the DAS WSP RF team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment engineering for DAS design sizing and equipment specifications and other network parameters such as RF power, electrical power requirements, filters, antennas, space, all ancillary materials for multiple tenant occupations in the DAS.
  • Maintain oversight of assigned DAS projects providing status and guidance to DAS team as well as customer counterparts.
  • Responsible for management of both in-building and outdoor DAS network projects.
  • Ensure proficient use of test equipment such as transmitters, receivers, spectrum analyzers, optic meters, etc., to perform duties for DAS commissioning and optimization.
  • Provide technical expertise to guide / restore field maintenance personnel to re-configure DAS Host/remote/fiber to normal operation.
  • Interpret and summarize DAS performance metrics such as fiber delay and distance limitations, noise floor, simulcast, power budgets, antenna specifications, and others.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an RF Engineer with a wireless service provider or consulting firm, with specific experience designing and optimizing GSM, TDMA, and/or iDEN networks.

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient with DAS and BTS hardware.
  • Working knowledge of all major wireless protocols, including CDMA, EVDO, LTE, GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, and iDEN.
  • Multiple equipment platforms: Andrew, ADC, PWAV, Mobile Access, TEKO, others.
  • RF Predictive Modeling.
  • Understanding of RF link budget requirements.
  • Able to perform CW drive test coordination and integrate into predictive modeling tool.
  • Able to perform modeling capacity planning for all RF protocols.
  • Able to post-process drive test data and make solid optimization recommendations.
  • Able to perform CW data collection in determining correlations with the predictive models.
  • Understanding of the existing capacity/coverage limitations of the listed protocols from an RF, switch, and RF hardware perspective.

Travel Requirement
Must be willing to travel extensively, up to 100% of the time, as required by the role. The position is expected to follow a weekday travel schedule, with the opportunity to return home on weekends.
