HNM Systems CEO Heather Moyer Finalist for SDBJ’s Next Top Business Leaders Under 40

By Anastasia Alm on August 13th, 2018

Heather Moyer, HNM Systems’ CEO, President and Founder, is a finalist in the San Diego Business Journal’s 2018 Next Top Business Leaders Under 40.

The award honors young leaders, change makers and innovators who have had a positive impact on the San Diego community.

Heather entered the staffing field at the age of 20 while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in business administration at San Diego State University. Within five years, she was appointed president of a local staffing firm. Under her leadership, the company grew more than 500 percent.  By the time she was 26, Heather developed an entrepreneurial itch, which lead her to found HNM Systems in 2011.

When creating HNM Systems, Heather chose to focus on the wireless industry, which she believed was underserved. Since its foundation in 2011, HNM Systems has employed more than 500 consultants, empowering them to take calculated risks and achieve their career goals.

Heather has helped HNM Systems flourish by doubling the company’s full-time staff and growing revenue by 85 percent in 2017. She also recently launched the Emerging Technologies division at HNM Systems.

If you ask Heather, the most important part of her work is being people-oriented and building relationships. She strives to create an environment that puts others first.  This is representative in the way that HNM puts their employees and customer needs above all.

Some HNM Systems employees described Heather as someone who works tirelessly and “exemplifying the kind of work ethic she expects from her employees.” Beyond being the CEO, employees view her as a teammate and equal. Another employee said, “Heather is a true leader, someone you strive to be like personally and professionally. One that is able to have transparent conversations but keeps you reaching for the stars.”

Beyond HNM Systems, Heather is a member of the Entrepreneur’s Organization in San Diego, which brings entrepreneurs from all fields together and helps them grow. She is a mother of two and married to a Paramedic Firefighter.

Heather values giving back to the community and encourages employees to take one day off to volunteer. She has also made giving back a focus of HNM Systems by connecting the company with Casa de Amparo. With her leadership, HNM Systems donated to more than 64 children and their families that have been affected by child abuse and neglect while in the foster care system. Every year, HNM Systems’ employees choose a walk to sponsor. In 2018, they sponsored Relay for Life and Arthritis Foundation’s walk. Before Thanksgiving, she started a dollar-for-dollar donation matching program for the San Diego Food Bank.

We are so proud of Heather’s accomplishments!
