Overview
Our customer, a leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee fiber and telecom construction projects from planning through completion. This role leads field operations, manages crews and subcontractors, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage telecommunications construction projects from initiation through completion
- Direct and coordinate multiple field crews, job sites, and construction supervisors
- Schedule crews, assign work, and track progress against timelines and budgets
- Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure contractual compliance
- Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture across all job sites
- Review and interpret construction drawings, maps, blueprints, and specifications
- Identify and resolve design and construction issues proactively
- Monitor production, quality, and project performance metrics
- Provide daily and ongoing project reporting to management and stakeholders
- Participate in project estimating, bidding, and change order management
- Maintain strong client, vendor, and subcontractor relationships
- Support field operations with hands-on leadership and problem-solving
- Ensure proper management of equipment, workforce, and project resources
- Recommend process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency
- Participate in recruiting and hiring of field personnel
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience managing telecommunications or fiber construction projects
- Strong knowledge of underground telecom construction, including:
- Directional drilling
- Conduit installation
- Cable placement
- Experience managing multiple crews, supervisors, and subcontractors
- Ability to read and interpret telecom construction drawings and engineering designs
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in field environments
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project preferred)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with fiber splicing, coax splicing, or fiber network deployment
- Experience with telecom project management software
Work Environment / Additional Information
- Full-time position with overtime as project demands require.
- Combination of field and office work, including site visits and crew oversight.
- Candidates should be comfortable working in outdoor construction environments and supporting field teams when needed.
